Super Duper Nikki
We are up to 470 CFM so far. This outflows the carb body with no venturis at all which flows at about 445 CFM (bad turbulence) . We're really gettin there guys!
Theres more improvement to come. Be patient.

Thanks TJ, You may be sorry you got that 2bbl someday j/k.
Oh and thats uncorrected for temp humidity etc. Its hot, hunimd and the air is thin right now. Corrected for standard day conditions, it would be higher.

Yeah, you know, I was thinking if I ever do a fully stock looking restoration like I want to at some point, I would get a modded Nikki just so I could still have the stock look, but with some kick to it .
By the way, does this mean the Nikkis should make as much HP as the Holley kits? Cause they only flow 465 CFM...

Some kick? Yes I'm outflowing the Holley already! And w/o all the bs of having a poorly matched carb (*cough Holley mounted 90*) to a rotary. And theres more improvement to come. Just as a WAG I'd say corrected it would be about 480-490 CFM where we stand now.

Well I will see what a SP 12A will need and size accordingly. Need to flow some SP engine plates. If anyone has templates they want flowed PM me. This was a "hey we're workin on it" progress is being made post in case interested parties want to know. And BTW, its not all gains by hogging out the venturis. Theres alot of flow "sculpture" going on here. Im tired, good progress, but alas its bedtime.

How about the 'Carling Modded Nikki' or the 'Carling HiPo Nikki' ?? Super Duper does sound sorta Chitti-Chitti-Bang-Bangish!!!"
You may be right about the Weber 2bbl. I opted on a 45DCOE Weber too, but did'nt know you guys were modding Nikki's (and Yaw is sorta hit-or-miss from what I hear).
Good Luck!

Well, I've got 2 carbs on a shelf in here that I want to get done by you guys. Let me know when you have everything perfected. I'll send you 2, and hopefully that will give you everything to do one!! I think that's my main problem right now is not getting enough air flow.
I'm hearing some tremendous intake roar through that cone filter (sounds cool, but it also sounds like a sign of restriction).

LOL, thats not gonna be the name guys, relax. It was just to get your attention.
Jeff, I will start with the RB SP ones as I have them already, but from what I hear they are a bit mild, so in order to match a carb to a more radical porting Id need to flow a plate with the same porting.
Yea we're not planning on getting rich off this, it should be in the $300 range.

FBII I dont see any big obstacles to making the carb blow thru friendly. Ill talk to Sterling about it since hes gonna do that with his Eaton blower.
jr, which carb are you wanting to send? And if you can do the template thing let me know.

Newbie question on your set-up...Does the the stock intake need to be modded (other than removing the butterfly) to work in conjunction with the carb mods?

I found an old twin distributor 12a with an odd carb on it stock thought maybe something could intrest you i mean it is completly different than any other stock 12a carb i have seen. although it is in poor shape. Who knows the oddest things give me the best ideas. I also have the intake for that carb it looks different but the top matches up to a normal 12a carb. Thought if you were interested i would send them hell they are just collecting dirt in my shop alli wanted was the twin distibutor fron plate which i cleaned and it hangs on my wall. People stare when the see a twin distributor front hanging over your bed.
tom that is not a bad newbie question.
Sterling is still trying to use an eaton. Damn that makes me want to get back to work on mine. ok it is back on the table time to go buy another eaton after what happend to the last one. Sterling i wish you the best of luck. Besides that last time i started something everyone said could not be done i ended up with a 350 olds in a 7.

Good idea, peejay. Heh, two on a 20B would be cool.
Carling (lol), just so you know, it's a '73 engine with wide ports (wide, very wide thanks to Mazda's early castings). The port height looks like RB's porting style from what I've seen before, but I'm with you saying that RB's ports are a bit mild. My dead extend ported '74 plates are a lot taller than my '73 plates. Similar inside width, though.
For now, I'm just going to say they're extend ported (with less timing). They flow like an extend port, but will offer a little better low end. I only plan on taking the engine up to about 9k to 9.5k anyway (gotta use carbon seals in '73 engines to save the chrome). '83-'85 rotating assembly and 3mm carbon seals.

ok i read that you guys can and will port intakes!
how much for the carb($300.00) and the intake
this setup with a header and hi-po cat should yeild how much of a power gain
also i must pass an emissions test *or for a lil money* a quick sight test, therefore, will these mods to the carb change its appearance, or function in any way other than a better more effiecient flow? is this going to blow my emissions all to heck?
thanx for the help good work guys
