Suggestions on Carb Rebuilt Kits

Atkins has one for $85.
Rockauto has two for just under $29

The illustration show nearly identical part.

Is there that much difference in quality?

(Noob question as I have not rebuilt a carb in 20+ years.)

I used the gp sorensen kit when I did mine, here is a link to the thread with pics. 5+ years later the carb is still working great!

There is so little in those kits you can actually use.

I only use the top gasket after careful trimming. The sight glass window gaskets after careful trimming. The rubber rings too, though they look to be of lesser quality than OEM. Sometimes I'll use the aluminum crush washers if whatever I've doing to the carb requires them. And lastly I'll use the nice long travel accel pump.

I use the thin baseplate gasket as a template on some thicker paper. And I only punch the holes I actually use. Don't just blindly punch all of them.

As for everything else in the kit, usually nope. A checkball now and then, and some cotter pins sometimes, and then maybe an accel nozzle crush washer and gasket if my OEMs are looking pretty shabby.

Heck I've been assembling a carb today. The above list is all I've used.

Hopefully your carb rebuild will be successful vs all the ruined carbs from people swapping in the garbage aftermarket needles and seats, and thin baseplate gasket and then wondering why their carb a) floods and b) has vacuum leaks/fuel leaks.
