ok so the FC subframe swap dosnt sound too bad...next on my mind in regards to the swap is can you now drop a 20b onto the sub frame once it is in the FB........i already have a 20b in an 89 FC in japan but am going back to the states and want to keep my GSL-SE i have in storage. with the parts that im going to be bringing back i would be able to make my dream car or come close to it. i have taken the FC apart and after it was all done i noticed that with only costum motor mounts the 20b fit rite onto the FC subframe ( YES I KNOW THAT THERE IS SOOOOO MUCH MORE INVOLVED TO COMPLETE THE SWAP) but at this time i am only worried about getting the 20b "block" to bolt up inside the first gen, i will worry about the rest when i get to it.........if i were to keep my first gen sub frame i would have to modify the oil pan, swap out the 20b front cover with one that has mounts up front, turn the subframe around, and then make a crossbar with costum made mounts up front to support the new front engine mount possition that the new front cover has, and the list goes on. but with the FC sub frame all that was needed for the block to bolt up was costum engine mounts........now again i KNOW that in order to make it all run there will be tons of other mods, but again at this point i am only concerned with making the block fit inside the FB body........and before you ask why i dont just swap everything over into another FC once i get here is because FC 3 rotors although rare are more common than FBs. also with an FC subframe i can now use its suspension which will allow me to use high end coilovers like tein and big brake kits.....can you imagine a first gen with all this in it !!!!!!!! anyway if you can give me an expert and experienced opinion it would be greatly appreciated.......im pretty sure this has not been done or even thought about but if you are someone that can do this type of work and vizualize it working or not working then please feel free to add in on the suggestions

the fc subframe does push the wheels out a bit. you should keep that in mind

maybe someone could chime in and let us know how much.

I will hold you to that.

Hmm, you know, I could technically begin the 20B swap in my car tomorrow if I really wanted to. I got the tranny today. It needs a new shifter return spring, but it works without it. Also could use some new seals but doesn't leak. I have a light steel flywheel, RB street strip presure plate, stock disc, alt, starter, GSL-SE tank (that needs serious rust removal and POR15 treatment), tall style rad, FMOC in decent looking condition but untested, ECU with wiring harness, coils, ignitors, header (it will be NA for now) and just need some 2.5" thickwall exhaust components and Borlas.

I wonder how long it would take me to complete this swap? A month? Gotta get a couple Borlas, the 2.5" exhaust stuff, probably modify the header so it fits the chassis, and need to solve the gas tank dilema. It sat for 10 years without a gas cap. The inside is ruined. I might just have to get a surge tank and low pressure high volume fuel pump to work with the stock healthy tank in the car.

ah just forget it......i'll just wait till im in the states again to do it and find out myself.....i never asked about how long it would take......only if the idea could work....i know that there is a rediculous amount of work that goes into this, but all i want for now is to get the 20b BARE BLOCK to sit in my FB, everything else i will deal with as it comes......
