Stupid question regarding backfiring
(85 GS stock carb and motor, RB header back exhaust, Holley red fuel pump)
So I have a dumb question and I'm expecting to get reamed out by everyone but anyways… I have been messing with my timing for a few weeks now trying to get it smoothed out more and more. I finally have it dialed down pretty good. However, now my car does not backfire, it used to, but now it does not, is there any benefit or negative consequences for it not backfiring. It runs smooth, and idles at around 850 rpm steady.
Like i said I know this is a dumb question, but the reason I ask is because it seems like almost everyone else comments on how their car backfires on command.

Backfiring means you have a mixture issue which a nikki well tuned shouldn't backfire that much.
Now a large 2 barrel carb, is another animal. They typically backfire a lot until tuned well and it
takes awhile. Also on the Dells and DCOEs tuing out the backfire requires the idle to be too lean
in most cases and you lose some low end grunt.
