Stupid Question based on Power Curve

.. so .. The car overall is pretty snappy, it slowly pulls from a mkiii supra w/ intake, HKS downpipe, and 3" exhaust & muffler w/ MBC at 12psi.

SOOo, then I went and got the exhaust finished up. The car developed this interesting new characteristic.. a newfound surge of power at 6krpm. I thought maybe the 5th&6th ports were opening later now so I set them to operate off the air-pump coming on between 3 and 4k. That obviously wasn't it as nothing changed. So this was infact MORE power rather than just moved power. Only one way... well... 3 ways to find out... but one way that I was actually gonna do was to run the mkiii supra turbo again and see if I pulled harder. Until 6krpm everything was as it always had been, and then from 6k+ I pulled away considerably quicker, like a very small shot of nitrous

Boost goes up to 15psi on the supra, 2 more runs. 1st run I'm pulling away slowly, like I did on him at 12psi when I had the more restrictive setup. 2nd run I get the jump again as always so let off to try and do a real-rolling run with him already at full boost. As he passed me I got back on it, took a second for him to stop pulling away, and then slowly started inching back up on him.

So now I've concluded that the car does infact have quite a bit more power up top. Here's where the actual question comes in:

Stupid Question #1: Can I tell if I have carbonfiber or iron apex seals without getting intouch with the guy who built the engine or tearing it apart myself?
Presumed answer to question #1: Not without potentially blowing it up :p

Stupid Question #2: Has anybody else got this interesting power delivery?

It's carbon-impregnated aluminum, not carbon fiber You can't really know unless you were the one who put 'em in or talk to the person who did.

A street port is like that... really pulls ahead at high RPM. 6-port engines are like big street ports, on the intake side anyway. What kind of exhaust do you have?

RB header & presilencer -> 2 1/4" piping all the way back with a "muffler" back there that you can see thru :p pretty straight thru setup

easy way to find out whether you have carbon apex seals or not is to advance your timing by about 58 degrees, strap a Nitrous bottle in your trunk, go for a drive, and strike 'er up. If you hear a loud clank, you have steel apex seals, if you don't hear too much, and the housings look ok, you have carbon apex seals...

from mazdatrix website
Note: The carbon apex seals are designed for racing only. They seal better above 8k rpm due to their lighter weight. They do NOT last very long (20k miles on the high side), and do NOT seal well at low rpm's (like starting and at idle).
Not recommended for turbo, supercharged, or nitrous engines
Are you saying that the Carbon apex seals will stand up to the nitrous and the hideously advanced timing?

So I've found the guy who built the car and whatnot;

The Greenish GT3 rex, 'John-Paul Clinging' I'll try and contact him and ask a few questions about what was done. Anybody know him?
