Why rebuild a perfectly good engine? That's one thing u don't have to spend money on. Take the money and put an after market intake and carb on it, do some suspension work, rims and tires, paint.

okay, when you say new engine what do you mean? did you actually buy one straight from Mazda brand new? Is it newly rebuilt? is it just new to you?

If it's either newly rebuilt or new from mazda, your engine should be fine, and you should just slap an aftermarket carb, and a header/RB exhaust on it and you're set. You can't rev at 10k, but you won't need to, your car will run just nicely as is, with even more power than you give it credit for.

If you want to port it, you're basically just rebuilding a newly rebuilt engine. The problem with this is that whoever just did the last rebuild wasted their time and money, and you probably wasted your money buying it since you payed an arm and a leg for it due to the rebuid.

What I'd do if I were you, just add the carb and exhaust and run it like that, or sell the rebuilt engine for a good price, buy an old running 13b for cheap, get it ported with a large street port, and rebuilt, and throw THAT in.

It will be expensive to do that, so just stick with what you have. Unless you have the money to do it already burning a hole in your pocket, in which case, get hardened stationary gears while you're at it, and do some searches for the other stuff you need for your high-performance 10k redline.
