Street Porting

I am new to this rotary thing. I am in the process of trying to get a new engine.
I was wondering what this streetporting is all about and how exactly it works. Any help would be appreciated. I saw some pics and im thinking its somthing similar to boring out an engine but i guess you would have to do things different with these rotarys. I am very interested in this and was thinking about having it done to my next engine or getting one that already has it done. Was wondering if u have to hook anything up to these extra ports or what not. Its kinda got me stumped on the way it works.

Thx

well porting is the equivilent to getting a different camshaft on a piston vehicle... It changes when and how much fuel and exhaust can enter and leave at a certain time, the shape of the port changes where your powerband is as well...
