Strange metal grinding sound

This sound come fromt the driver side rear wheel whenever i decelerate and reverse.. mainly when I drop the clutch.. or let off the gas pedal

I think I need a rebuild or a new rear end.

does anyone know where to get a ford 8.8 rear end? Do they come on ford Rangers?

The reason I ask is Direct Freak Uses ford 8.8 on his ride.

Basics first, check your caliper is mounted solidly, your pads are in good shape, any signs of rubbing metal first, jack it up and spin the wheels, remove the wheel and turn the hubs and so on. It may be an easy fix.

Hey hey ... as the last post said, check elsewhere 1st ... Those diffs are pretty strong if you've got a stock engine... Caliper's would sound like a good place to starrt ... Mine did that before ... that was the problem

if your shoes are fine but the pin or a spring is broke, you can get ..what they call is a Hold Down Kit..it contains the springs, pins and all the appropriate hardware to get your shoes to stay put..Warning!!!!..YOU are workin with Brakes ..and if you do not know HOW..then refer it to someone who does..(just lookin out for you and the lives of others Matt)..best of luck to you though..

Sounds like bearings to me. Mine only made noise on the right side when the rear beaings went out. Like everyone else said, tho, check the brakes first and make sure they are fine. If its the bearings you can usually hear them if you put the rearend up on stands and turn the wheel by hand. Sometimes you feel it more than hear it.
