you guys,,ok. it installs right where the hinge is, and a slot is made in the lower area. the latch rides in the slot and when the cover is raised , the latch 'pops' out of the slot to hold up the cover. problem.. i don't know where to put it ?? on the 'outside' next to the seat belt.
or the 'insides'.
or the 'insides'.

So uh...You mount the metal thing to the cover, cut a slit in the rim around the bin, and then when you close it, the thing slides in the slit, and when you open it, you take it out of the slit and rest it on the rim of the bin, making a little support for the lid? Is that it?

It took me about 10 minutes straight of staring at the picture until I realized that it might be a shiny reflective piece of metal, and that he is not casting some rainbow spell onto something.
But......storage bin latch? They come with a latch, thats to keep them closed. You probably mean something to prop them up, like a hood prop, when they are open.
2 points about that:
1.) Why would you need them propped up? 1 hand holds it up, while the other puts items in.
2.) I've developed an easier and less expensive fix for that. If the lids haven't already worn out and separated at the fold of the plastic "hinge", just yank a bit, and it comes off. That allows you to open the lid, which now comes off. You can set it on the back deck, load your items in, and then line the lid up, let it click into the latch, and it stays, with no difference.
My driver's side bin is like that. It doesn't rattle, it doesn't move.
