The plan was to locate the four corners of the replacement hatch carpet, cut out that section and glue it onto the bins cover. The reality is that the bins carpet is securely attached with some adhesive or contact cement that is reluctant to give up it's properties. I soaked it with detergent and let it sit for hours then tried to pressure wash it off. Didn't work, but I ended up with thin but clean carpet. I'm afraid to use solvents for fear of damaging the plastic. Any ideas?
