the mazda dealership on santa monica blvd in los angeles sold the wrong spark plugs to a neighbor, he nuked his rx-7. He took them to court and got nothing out of it.

So I bought spark plugs from the same dealership. You'd think that after a lawsuit, they would get their spark plugs right? I got the wrong plugs. Fortunately , I always compare the new part to the old one before installation.

As a former employee of the above referenced company I can tell you that the paper you got means nothing. Only an officer of the company (V.P., CEO, etc) could sign anything on behalf of the company. What you need to do is have them file a claim and try to talk to the district manager. Anything more than $100 will have to be approved by someone above the store manager level. Before you get any type of reimbursement make sure you have had it thoroughly checked out. Once you accept anything from them you waive all further liability.

I'm with ^^^

I'm also all for taking it to the dealership. They do good work at an expensive price, so that should work out best for you in both ways.

Good luck. Remeber, alt. starter, fuses, wires. Eveything running current......

Thanks for all the support and important info guys! Between the info from my brother (Goodfellafd3s) and John at Malloy Mazda, they pretty much diagnoised the problem.

So, I received a call from the Autozone's manager today saying that he replaced one of the fuseable links. He got the car running and told me to "come pick it up, it's ready." And I basically said, whoa hold you horses, I want to make sure the alternator or any other electrical components weren't fried. I get there after I got out of my classes and proceed to take the car around the block. As I am about to pull out of the parking lot, my friend and I notice that ALL of my "idiot" were on. I thought, "hmm, that's odd." As I was making a left, putting on my blinker, my friend and I realized that the idiot lights were blinking in sink w/ the blinker, lol!

At the same time I happened to glance over at my voltage meter gauge for the battery and that's fluctuating like crazy! My friend made eye contact w/ me and said "Dude your alternator is fu**ed!" He had my consensus. After calling my knowledgable brother to comfirm, I proceeded to take my case to the judge, the manager. He tests the alternator and, what a surprise, it tests: 0amps, yup it's fried! So to make a long story short and $184 later, the manager orders me a new replacement alternator.

Also, since Autozone can't do the work there (they have no bays), they sent me down the street to a mechanic that, ironically, races/works on Rx-7s. I was in heaven, better than a dealership if you ask me. The guy has is own track prepared 1st gen that he races at Summit Point! (Also, the manager got the fuseable link to "fix" the car from this mechanic, happened to have some laying around).

The mechanic said he was also going to check all the electrical/ignition to make sure nothing else blew out on the car as a result of the swapped cables. Super nice guy.

So Autozone--> $184 in the hole (maybe more) and I didn't have to pay a penny.

Driving to Autozone to get you battery checked, ......................................$10
Talking on the phone while waiting for the battery to be load tested.......$2
Finding out that you'll get the alternator that probably needed to be
replaced for free b/c an employee swapped the battery cables.................Priceless

PS---This mechanic had a Lotus Super Seven w/ a 2nd gen Turbo II engine in it!! Badass! Maybe I'll take pics when I go to pick my car up

Ryan

Don't put regular fusible links in... 2nd gen fuses fit in the same spot.
