As I recall it's metric, something between 1.75" and 2".

ok well i don't know jack about welding of exhaust components...if i buy a muffler with a 2.25" inlet...how would they fit that onto my stock exhaust piping?

they expand the end of the pipe they are attaching to(or should anyway). or another way is to use an adapter like they sell at autozone

My stock one is 2" but with all the rust in it, it is now closer to 1 3/4"

ill probley just order a powerpulse muffler rather then going though the troubles of getting a magnaflow, I just want it to be a streetable tone not like it is now, header-presilencer-straight pipe
