still has a bad idle

I read through the FAQ, tried a few things and the car still has a bad idle. I posted up here a while ago and haven't really had time to work on the car since. I replaced the plugs wires, cap and rotor.

I tried a few things. Some people told me to plug the vacume lines going to the yellow shutter valve and I did but nothing happened. I tried a test I found on one of the troubleshooting sites to see if the driver hand side hole in the air cleaner has vacume at idle and it does not. So according to that the coasting valve is working properly. I found it on this site. http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shutter.htm

Th car has a miss at idle all the way up to about 3000rpms. It will idle low and stay idling but it doesn't run smooth.

could this be a vacume leak? The car only has 13,000 miles on it and it has been garaged all its life.

I haven't changed the fuel filter yet and it has been sitting for a long time with old gas in it. Would the fuel filter have this type of affect in the car? I really don't anything baout the 12a engine. Any input is welcome thanks for your help.

Fuel filter change, most certainly, along with draining any old gas and cleaning the ful system out. Try a can of Seafoam.

The old gas is cleaned out, I'll try the filter and would u recomend putting seafoam in the tank or pouring it through the carb?

I put a can in with about a quarter of a tank of gas straight into the tank.

I'm gonna try the vacume leak thing proly this weekend, and I'll pick up a can of seafoam for the gas tank.

are the carb gaskets/intake manifold gaskets prone to leak over time on this engine?

Am I missing anything else?
