Sticking windows

This seems really trivial, but both windows on my 1985 rx7 are very difficult to roll up, and won't stay on the track. I sprayed some el cheapo silicone lube in the mechanism, this helped quite a bit. What lub is best for this, and is there anything I can do to keep these on the track?

Thanks!

I have a similar problem...Mine dont go down more than two inches, and then they will go up just fine...I think Im just gonna take the doors apart, take the regulators out nd silicone them all up like I did to my other ones and hope that helps.

PS - Ive heard silicone lubricant works best.

i have rollups and i have to do the up/down/up dance. i'm thinking about wheel greasing the mechanism and putting new plastic on the doors.

the rubber that is in the window tracks was bad in mine too causing the window to act up, went to bone yard and found some that were in better shape, also i took the door panel off and drilled another hole where the forward vertical runner attaches, put a new hole about 1/2 inward and reattached that riser, now the window goes up/down and doesnt fall out anymore..took out some of the slack........

I had the same problem with the glass coming off the track on my Jeep. I did something similar to Donna's method (drill a hole and put in a stopper on the track) and it worked great.
