Stereo wiring help :)

I know that a lot of people do this, and yes I have searched the forum multiply times for help. I was trying to get my new head to work and I gotten my first problem figured out. My question is there is a blue/white wire that I want to use as my acc switch on my stereo. What was this wire originally for? I couldn't find the wire on the stock stereo wire diagram. The harness connector that its in is made for 6 wires though there are only 4 wires in it. This is in a 85 SE by the way. Thanks for any help.

a lot of stereo manufactures use blue wiring for the power antenna, power up the stereo and if this wire goes hot then more than like this is the case.

Just get a test light and see if it has power in the ACC and ON positions and don't worry about what it used to do.

The wire is stock to the car itself and not the stereo.

Exactly....get a test light, ground it, stick the test probe into the socket that has that wire and then put your keys in the ignition. If that test light comes on only in the ACC and ON positions of the keyed ignition switch, you just found the wire to power your stereo's "on" power cord....usually red but sometimes yellow on the aftermarket headunit....

Just re-read your text...do you actually mean the amp remote or antenna remote wire?

Get yourself a MultiMeter and check what wires have power only when your key is in the ACC position, not when your key is not in (constant.) As for the wiring, i also have an SE and there is more than one wire that come on during the ACC position, there is the radio, the tape deck, the equalizer, all running a seperate ACC wire, not sure if all 3 do though. Never the less there IS more than 1 wire.

Thanks GavinJuice. I know that the white/blue wire has power when ACC is on. I just wanted to know what the stock wiring diagram says the wire does (The wire is connected to car NOT the stereo head)
