Motor sale issues.....Please read

I've been trying to sell my motor on ebay for a week now, and I've posted it twice. I'm asking 250 for a running 12a. Is this too much? I haven't even had a bid, but 11 people were watching it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7909802698

I don't get it, i thought it would sell quick.

Definately seems reasonable.

I can see how someone changing an engine would decide to bite the bullet and get a freshly rebuilt one though. That's what we finally did after a few used engines a few years ago and we haven't regretted it.

Old cars take a bit of tinkering at their best. You start having engine problems...you start thinking maybe it's time for something newer. Then think about the work (or money) involved in putting a used engine in, and it's just enough to go spend 4K on a used Miata instead.

But for someone looking for a running 12A? $250.00 is a heck of a buy.

Where were you four months ago!!! I paid 1150 on ebay for a DUD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pisses me of!!! He said it was a strong runner, built for IT racing, with very low miles on it. Running last he knew. I bought eagerly waiting for that thrilling ride again. Motor installed, exhausting through the intake. After weeks of online consultations, dragged it to a dealer to learn two seals on the front rotor were bad. Sh*t!

...But to answer your question, it should move for $250. Good luck!

$250 is not a bad price, But I would not buy it and then have to spend $100 + to get it shipped. It may take a bit to find someone local enough that they would want it.

Operator

I have an awsome 104K mile 12A that you can come drive before I pull it out. Asking $600 for a full long block with Trans.

Have you tried the parts FS section in this forum? No listing fee and more views that you would on ebay anyway.

Thanks for the offers, but I'm a little frozen in frustration and figuring out my next step. I'm thinking of towing the car to Kearney Racing in MD for a rebuild.

I would love to jump on it, but i' just bought my 79 12a by a person that said that it ran great. after 200 miles it went pow pow pow. If I don't get this thing running soon, I've got a 5.0 mustang and trans that will solve my rotary problems. I'll drop that bad *** right in there.

Sadly, this is a fairly common story.

One thing I've learned is that the rotary world is fraught with charlatans and ne'er-do-wells.

My rule of thumb on a Rotary is IF I dont hear it run, It is a Core.

Also my engine for sale is in NC, zip 28167.
