GA Stereo engine whine!

I i have systems in all of my cars, but i am having a problem with my 79.I have my power running down the drivers side.I have my rcas running down the other. I have thick enough wire for what i am running. I am using a old school Rockford 360.2 running my two subs. Do you think because the batt is right next to the coils i could be picking up that noise? What are you guys doing?

There is an isolator on the dizzy that helps with this. It is a whine that rises in pitch
along with the RPMs, correct?

I had something like this on the protege. What helped was a better ground for the amp, but I
also redid the ground on the battery as well.

Make sure you have your power to the amp directly from the battery.

Check your condensor on the dizzy. If its hooked up then its bad or the
wire feeding into is bad.

Where did you ground your amp? And I had my power wire to my amp ran through the passenger side with no problems

grounding issue. either with the head unit, amp alternator or battery. i would start with the amp. make sure wherever you grounded it you stripped all the paint off and used an appropriate sized wire and not and extremely long wire. then i would check the head unit grounding and if it still does not fix it it could also be that your RCA wires are ran too close to another wire that flows some current. if you must cross a heavy power wire when routing them cross said wire at a 90 degree angle and use some insulation at the point. black tape will work.

Wankelbug took the words right out of my mouth - GREAT advice. Also you can purt a capacitor on the lead from the alternator to help with the whine. Thiese symptoms are the classic sign of a bad ground.
