How the heck do I get the radio out of this thing ? and where is the antenna tuneing slug?

pull off the temp and fan controll *****, there will be 2 nuts holding those on, take em off and dont lose the washers. then goto where the shifter is and pull it up, there will be two screws at the bottom take them out, and then take out the cage that holds the whole thing in.

 

once you start you'll realize its hela esy to get that baby out have faith my son

How do you get the plastic piece around the shifter off? My shifter boot is just dangling around the shifter..so I wanna take that piece off and see if I can re-attatch it somehow, but I don't want to break the plastic piece getting it off...

 

I had that same problem on my 83, it jus snaps off. I jus left my boot off, looks better. I put some blue neons in there, so whenever I shift they light up.

 

I still haven't been able to pull the temp or fan **** off.... one of them is cracked which means that the previous owner wasn't able to do it either. The panel is cracked as well. I think i'm just gonna break them out of there and get a new panel and ***** somewhere. Any sellers??

 

According to what I've seen on mazdatrix.com and rx7world.com those stereo panels can be pricey, so make sure you have a affordable replacement before you go ripping it off...
