Steering wheel SA

I am trying to get a new steering wheel for my sa but all the adapters I see say for 80 and up. I of course, have to own a 79.. Are they different, or is everyone just crazy on their years. I am trying to keep the factory plastics intact. Also same for rear shocks. I see lots of stuff say 81 to 85. I was unaware of any fundamental differences in this area. If anyone can school me please do!

i think a 2nd gen hub will work.

ALL first gen REAR shocks are the same. 79-80 fronts are different

Nope- 79 mounting splines on shaft end are different (either tapered or not, as compared to 80-85, can't remember which) - so you'll need to dick with it if you try and use the 80 hub adapter...

Does anyone know of a hub adapter FOR a 79 that can be purchased? I mean SOMEONE has to have made something or knows how to do this.

7aull, what are you doing in fairbanks. I live in Anchorage. I'm in Iraq right now, but am due to come home in Octoberish. Might have to come up and check out your 7. Sad to say mine's still in Il, but I thought about picking up another one in Anchorage. I've seen a few.

Morey-
Hey, right off THANKS for your sacrifice over There man!!!! Stay safe!
What am I doing in Fairbanks?? Enjoying this fab state of ours! Been here 20 yrs and gets better every year. Sorry your missing a prime summer
Your RX is in Illinois? Well the good news would be the road trip up the Alaska Hwy! I have brought both my RX7s up that way and the trip is fabulous, especially in spring time.
As to your hub problem, maybe the best bet is an 80 hub and mod it? Its the same spline/daimeter as 79, but with a tapered end. Good starting point.
Take care soldier-
