hello,
well i recently recovered my car from the police impound after it was stolen and have got almost everything back to how it was but the ignition.. i was wondering since the ignition is busted what is the easiest way to replace that?
should i just get a new column or is there something easier?

I changed mine in my 83. I used one from an 85 and the main difference with the cylinder lock was that my 83 cylinder didnt unscrew like the 85 did. I had to replace the entire pipe thing that it connected to. Just remember that if you get one from a junk yard. You have to remove steering wheel, turn signal combo switch and the its right there.

Yeah you can get a new ignition cylinder from a wrecker and swap locks between your old one and your new one. I did that on my old '82.

You don't have to remove the steering wheel or the combo switch to get to the ignition switch. There are two round top screws on the top of the ignition switch. You need a dremel to score grooves in each one in order to get a screwdriver on them to remove them.. the whole switch pops out. If you post in the For sale section, you should be able to get a new switch cheap.
