steering box removal?

i did a quick search but cant find anything. was wondering how hard it is to pull a steering box out of an fb. i've already got the motor out. i've been told its just a few bolts and its done, but i've also been told its a massive headache. can someone clear this up for me?

Power or manual? Manual is cake, power is a bit tricky. Check the FSM, it has details.

both are very easy but the exception with the power box is the removal of the lower line against the firewall and removal of the cooler.. first, knock the hard part out. remove the pitman arm nut at either the ball joint or the pitman arm itself. use a puller to remove the pitman arm from the steering box. this can be difficult and can test your patience. next remove the steering wheel and you then remove the two bolts securing the steering shaft to the dash. these bolts are under the cluster area and can be seen easialy from under the dash. next, remove the four nuts that secure the firewall seal and mounting plate. the steering shaft runs through this plate. then finally you must remove the three bolts on the inner left wheel well. you will now be able to slide the steering shaft through the firewall, guide it out from the bottom of the car or through the top..your choice and it will be laying on your garage floor.
