Starter is located on driver side connected to tranny right where it bolts to engine. Hopefully that makes sense. Be careful if it is screwed cuz you may break the bolt(s) that hold it on.

First check to make sure you dont have loose connections, or dirty at battery. Second if you bang on the starter with a hammer or heavy object and it starts, the brushes are worn out.
#1 is to check battery voltage always. rx7doctor

if nothing happened.. as in no click or anything, chances are the connector is loose on the starter... that thing has caused me much grief... this past winter it was snowy outside.. i took the car out, hit some slush.. connector came off and i had to get out in the rain/snow combo, and try to connect a wire from the battery to the solenoid.. cars driving by, soaking me on purpose.. anyway, enough rambling..

i got a spare starter, worked before i took it out the parts car. lemme know, we can work something out.

I just replaced my starter this weekend. *sigh* It was such a pain in the butt. Like everyone else said, check the battery first. I checked mine and it was shot so, I ended up buying another one. I tried to start the car and all I got was a *click* sound. The starter came out but, the gears did not engage so, we ripped out the started and tested it and sure enough it was deader than doornail. Bought myself a new one from NAPA (One of three new ones left in Canada they told me), we hooked her up, deflooded the engine and then the car started like a dream. Like was said before though, check the wiring and battery first =).
