I don't drive my car but maybe every other week in order to wash it and keep things running since it's being restored. Whelp today I went to wash it and begin a rebuild on my master and slave cylinder, right after I started it, the oil light came on. I figured it may be low especially since I park on an incline. So I pulled out of the driveway to go wash the car and buy some oil when I noticed the parking stall had a fresh puddle of oil. I am positive this huge puddle happened when I started the car. It appears to be coming from the front maybe slightly on the drivers side. I wasn't thinking the puddle was oil(since my clutch resevoirs leak big time and I just filled them to drive the car) so I drove away and I noticed nothing different about the car but I am always easy on it since it's old and still needs repairs. Is there some oilpan type of thing up front that all the oil sits in that has a gasket or something. Where could this oil be coming from?

 

if its a 79-82, I would suggest looking at the oil cooler mounted under the radiator

 

-SE's are notorious for cracking oil coolers. I'd check it out where the banjo bolts are.

 

oops, forgot about the GSL-SE's having the air to oil cooler too.....

 

Ya, it's an 85 se. I'll look through my books and see exactly where it is and what it takes to fix it. What would you guys say is the level of difficulty as well as price to fix this?

Found it in the books, doesn't look to difficult to replace. Of course I still have to take a look and make sure that is the problem.

Anything upgradeable here? Like a better oil cooler available?

I AM THINKING YOUR ENGINE GOT A HOLE IN IT AND ONE PEICE OF OIL TRIPPED AND FELL ON TO THE GORUND THEN THE OTHER OILS THOUGHT IT WAS COOL TO FALL OTU HOLES THEY THEY ALL JOINED HIM! YOU NEED TO GO HAVE A GOOD TALKING TO WITH THE OILS AND TELL THEM TO GET THE **** BACK IN YOUR CAR AND STAY THERE K! IT WORKED FOR MY ROTHERS GIRLFRIENDS MOMS SISTER WHO HAD A SON THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM! SO I KNOW IT WILL WORK K!

Before you change the cooler , look at the oil level sending unit and all of the places where the plate go togeather.
