Stacey's Stolen Rx-7 GSL-SE
Someone's sig from page 1 of this thread. It fits.....
Of course, in this case, it was 4 years later..........
How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb?
1 to change the light bulb and 1 to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
5 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
17 to flame the spell checkers
10 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"
... another 6 to condemn those 6 as ****-retentive
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
8 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy"
5 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
9 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped
4 people to post. can this be made a sticky?
1 new forum member to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

LOL. I didn't write it, I just copied it. But you're right, that line should have been in there.

I remember this thread quite well, and especially Manntis' comment. First time I'd ever heard (seen) it. Then a little later Frylock said it on ATHF and it reminded me of this thread.
I wonder what Jim Rothe is up to these days.
LOL. I've heard that for years. My standard reply, "Take off, and DON'T fall down"......

Very easy. I read the rx-7club.com site off and on before 06 and think I had an account, although if so I couldn't remember the name or password so I joined again for some reason. People are busy, so sometimes I haven't looked at the site for months or years, and sometimes it's a couple days. Most times I don't need to sign onto the site to read it.
Also, this same subject of Stacey's RX-7 was discussed on the e-mail list, and by Jim Rothe him self. It wasn't a secret just confined to rx-7club.com.

I never really have read through that entire restoration process...
Walnut blasting huh... Interesting.
I'll need to try that on my FB sometime.
I keep gathering bodywork tips from other people's restorations... Like the lead soldering instead of bondo on the 240z in the lounge.

Allways it is said avoid using Bondo if possible, and keep to less than 1/16 inch thick if used. Good idea to inspect the bodywork before any primer or paint is applied, and make sure nobody got lazy and there isn't any bondo being used as filler. Stacey made a good decision where to get hers painted. If she was a random customer somewhere else the results might have not been so good.

Hi Gang!
It`s me....... Stacey
It`s been many years since the car was stolen and restored.
Maybe some of you remember me.
Currently my Rx-7 is safe and in storage.
Next week though, I`m dragging it out of storage ...... for photos!
Yep, baby gets her pictures taken and she will be reregistered and insured as a `Classic`....`Collector`car. I`ve waited a long time for this moment.
I thought I`d share this with you guys....

This a great story. I read about it a month ago. Congrats on the Classic Collector status. I've always loved RX7s and owned a few 2nd gens and a 3rd gen. But the first and second RX7 that I ever drove was a 1st gen. I just bought my first one about a month ago. An 84 SE and I love it.
Your story is very cool and inspiring. Thank you.

glad to see you back Stacey! your SE is an amazing survivor car. its been through a lot and is lucky to have an owner who cares for it as much as you do! can't wait to see the new pics!
This is the first time I've read or even heard about this saga. What an inspiration!!! It takes a great deal of dedication, patience and love for an RX7 to go through what you did. Your story should be required reading for anyone contemplating giving up on their project. Keep up the great work and I'll be looking forward to seeing the new pics.
amen...*cries*
20something grand for a gsl-se in 1985....awesome
