springrates = front and back?? suspension gurus!!

ok just wondering if this would absolutely suck or just be stiff

tokico illuminas for a fc ( i have an fc front subframe, so i need them, and im custom making the back to fit, (just the suspension not the irs)) im not insane((

generic coilovers with adjustable perches, all springrates are the same about 300 or 350 i think its generic for a honda actually

panhard bar, and tri link in the rear

im buying the coilover perches for cheap but they also come with springs and i wanted to throw them in there

i read that for drifting you want stiffer springs out back anyways...

by the way ive got allot of wieght reduction, but also have a chromoly six pt cage which wieghs about 60 lbs mostly in the rear of the car, and the battery is going in the back aswell

so those of you with experience lemme know your opinion
am i crazy or cheap or on the right track for a descent suspension setup?

Ok, you're crazy, cheap, and off on a track very few have traveled. It sounds like you will have a one of a kind set-up and only you will know if you like what it does. Just remember the basics, the end of the car with more roll stiffness will break loose first. This can come from springs OR bars. Hondas run extremely high rates in the rear so the car will have some sort of balance when the front doesn't want to stick under power.
I say throw it together and take it out and flog it. Thats the only way you will know.
For drifting(something I have yet to understand,I guess I'm just old!) I wouldn't bother with the tri-link etc. These parts make the rear stick better by letting the suspension function. They might make the car more predictable in a slide, I don't know.

that setup will either drift, or spin out of control. maybe try things as you go and see how it balances out.

g'luck

Yeah, for proper handling, you will want softer rear suspension, but since this is a drift car, go with matching springs, and see how it does

If you are using a cheap eBay type coil over set, those springs wont be consistant, either have them checked for actual rates or toss them and buy some you can trust ie: Eibach, Blue Coil etc... Remember those platforms will only stay seated with weight on the car, so whenever you jack it up you need to be sure the come down in place.

these are the coilovers i bought,

http://photobucket.com/albums/b345/a...=coilovers.jpg

theyre just cheepies, but they will fit tight over the fc suspension, and hopefully the tokicos im getting,

the ones for the rear, (of the honda are longer, which means that the springrate should be lower at the back,
i think i will get them checked, can any springshop test them for me? w/e not a big deal i think its gonna be temporary, (mayaswell see how i like them... im probably gonna have to cut them iether way, but ill make it work ,
thanks for your opinions,
Paul
