We have alot of Black Widows here, thats bad because they are very poisonous. Living in the south and have a junkyard go figure. Atleast you dont have to worry about a rattler laying in the seat when you open the car door...

I went out to play "vroom vroom" noises in my 85 this morning... ohhh, what a treat I found... as there's a banana spider... probably almost 8", tip to tip, sitting on the door handle.

I went back inside the house.

Just reading this thread gives me goosebumps. I HATE spiders and bees and wasps and that kinda thing. Any insect that can in any way hurt me. I hate em. I can deal with snakes and mice just fine, but if spiders and wasps are invading my car, I'm outa there. I've been lucky so far this summer. Nothing has invaded my car and it hasn't moved or really even been touched all summer.

Nothing worse than blasting down the freeway at 75 and having a black widow start spinning a web down from the rearview mirror.

Insects are the reason that I overheated my engine to the point of no return.

I had just installed my carb and started up the car with it about 1/2 way out the garage when I went around the back to check how much it was smoking. Somewhere in the process a yellow jacket landed on my neck and stung me. I looked up and saw a nest the size of a softball in the corner of the garage door about 2 feet from my head I was pretty angry about being stung and went and got a can of Raid and sprayed the hell out of the thing, made sure every last yellow jacket was dead. By the time I got back into my car the temp needle was maxed =\

Damned yellow jackets.

Well i threw in 3 fog bombs and thought I had them all dead, So i ripped out the interior went in for a smoke, came out again and there was a spider guarding the car. It knew what I was gonna do. I zigged to the left it followed, zagged to the right, it followed, Tok one step forward and it did the same. When I realised how ridiculous a mexican stand off with a spider was. I squished the bastard. Thought it was the last one til I took the door panel off. Found one there carrying eggs around like a backpack of infestation. So I flooded the door with water and hopefully got her. Found another one under my carport, damn escapee now lives in my barbeque, Im gonna roast it this weekend.

For those of you who dont know what a wolf spider is here is a pic

I have to tell you guys.. this has been extremely entertaining for me to read! All the big bad men are afraid of the no see-ums and what-nots! LOL! Now I don't feel bad that I'm terrified of frogs... cuz they probably won't be poppin out of my engine or sitting on my door handle on me! Let alone fallin from my visor..... but i'll give ya this - those wolf spiders look pretty ugly.

It's not so much scared of them. It's that I don't like to sit on them or lean back on them and squish them against myself...

Living things are just generally unpleasent.

R U implying I'm not Normal?!?!?!?!?!? LOL And just an FYI... the fear of frogs is called batrachaphobia. I was a little disturbed by the fear myself so I did some research on it! Figure some nasty little boy threw one at me when I was little or something...

It's okay - Rx7Carl (yup, the Mod here), got a parts car from me. Once he started stripping it down, he said he found Black Widows!

Yeah, I can't help but feel I got the best end of that exchange
