Speaker wires question???

Ok so im installing 2 new rear speakers. I thought or was pretty sure my stock rear speakers still worked. SO i disconnected the stock speakers by cutting off the easy clip thingy and stripping the ends off the original wires.
I solder them to the new wires that came with the pioneer speakers. At the other end of the pioneer speakers are connectors that slide right onto the pioneer speakers.
I turn the car on and the speakers dont come on? I disconnect and just touch my sub wires to the speakers and i hear music.

Now, how do i check to see if the stock wires are still good? and if so how do i fix.... re-wiring both of them?

If you have a DVOM unplug the connecetor from you stereo and put a lead on the wire in the connector and on the same wire at the speaker opening... if you have no conituity there is a problem with your wire.

It shouldn't matter for sound, but have you tried reversing the polarity?

ok, dvom? whats this look like?
*In back of my stereo there are 2 plugs (that plug into it). 1 is a straight cable im guessing for power and the other is a bunch of wires in an easy clip in thing.

yes i did reverse the polarity and nothing.

the best thing to do is new wires run some nice 12g or 14g speaker wire to the back..under the carpet! you still have the factory head unit?

if so than look and see what color the wires are at each rear speaker and hook the new speaker wire to the correct leads near the radio....its ez shouldint take more than 45 min

cheers PaTricK

lol for got to tell you how to get the polarity right.......there are a few ways you can do this.. check the back of the old speaker and see if it has + - ..probley wontif you left some wire on the back of the speaker then you will need an AA battery and hook some of that speaker wire you have left over to it..red on the + and silver on the - .. touch the leads hooked to the old speaker and if it pushes out than you touched the pos to the pos and the neg to the neg..if it sucks in you got them back wards either way just take note to witch wire is what and hook the right leads up at the head unit

or you can turn the radio on after you got it hooked up (if you have a sub shut it off) then fade to the right and listen to the mid bass then fade it to the front if the bass gets deeper than you got the polarity wrong and need to switch the right rear..also you will need to fade it all the way to the rear and fade then fade it to the right if it gets deeper than you have it wrong again and switch the left rear.. this hsould get all 4 speakers working together if done right...<----this way is harder to get right if you dont have a good ear for tone

either way should work for you

its all good you can also goto a car audio place and they can get you a harness that plugs into the factory harness..you can get the the right wires with that...than return it and say it was the wrong 1 or what ever

I dunno, whole thin is too much for someone who knows close to nothing about audio ****.
I took my driver seat out, carpet and everything. Followed a thick braid of wires to back of center console and lost it fromt heir, they all converge and it is just mind boggling.... You car audio guys are nucking futs.

So i called an audio place and they said 40$ to re-wire them, which to me is ridiculous. So ill try again when im ready, lol, not 4 a while.
