Spark problems... 85 GS
Hi everyone... just thought I'd take a stop in from the 2nd Gen section and ask an FB question.
My brother has an 85 GS and it has developed an interesting problem.
It starts and revs fine, but will not hold an idle.
Fuel supply is good.
Checked it with a timing light and found out that the leading plugs do not appear to be firing. Connecting the light to the leading coil produces only an intermittent signal (while the trailing coil stays fully lit). I checked the resistance on the coils and they're within specs (1.3 ohms +/- 10%). I'm going back out tomorrow to take a closer look at it. My plan is to swap the coils and test (see if I get a constant signal on leading and intermittent on trailing).
Does anyone have any thoughts on other things I should check while I'm out there? Thanks for the feedback (if any).
