Question Spark Plugs?

Has anyone run a GSL-SE 13B with 86 and up 13B plugs (LEADING PLUGS NGK #BUR7EQ & TRAILING PLUGS NGK #BUR9EQ) Does it work? Is it better or worse?

Thanks

My friend is almost doing that. He has a GSL-SE engine in a rotary truck which is using a modified Nikki carb and manifold with BUR 7 and 9 plugs. It seems to be running fine. It's running a little rich at the moment though, but I think it's because the air filter is kinda dirty. It fires up and runs pretty good.

If you really want to find out for yourself if BUR7(and 9)EQ plugs work better or worse in your engine, go ahead. The stock setup calls for BR9EQ-14. My bro ran his with BR8EQ-14 and I don't think it messed up the engine or anything. They are just one heat range hotter than the 9s.

I'm running those right now and have been for the last 3 months. No probs here. They are exactly the same length as the stock NGK's just the electrode's are different.

speaking of electrodes, what would cause them to deteriorate as if they're getting burnt up. my leading plug electrodes are about 1/2 the length of new ones.

Sounds like they are being burnt up, weird since the -SE recommended plugs are BR9EQ-14's for lead and trail.

On the BUR7EQ & TRAILING PLUGS NGK #BUR9EQ what's the advantage of running a hotter plug in the lead? Wouldn't the 7 tend to burn up quicker than a 9?

The hotter plugs were used for emissions purposes I think.

I've been using the platinum tip NGK from the second Gen's for about a year now. They last about three times longer than the regular plugs. By the way I am using them on a 82 GSL 12A...and it runs much better than the original plugs....
