Cool This is sooo taboo, but....

does any one have specs for a RB holley? Like jet size, accel pump size, accel cam color, nozzle size? I've done a few Holley conversions for other people and myself but no two the same. Some run good and some run great, but I was just curious if anyone had taken their RB apart. I feel somtimes like I use "The Force" while tuning a Holley.

I have a non-RB holley 600 (4160) and it works fine. I'm about to rip it off though, in favor of a Double Pumper of the same size. I know the parts going into the double pumper, the current carb I can't remember it all. I know it has 60 primaries and metering plate equivalent to 72s with a 30cc pump and I believe the orange cam. Not sure about the squirter, or the spring for the secondaries. Feels like they come on around 3500ish.

Well, what the heck are you doin with all those Holleys Wackracer? Wanna unload 'em?

Mr. ouija, so you have any complaints about how your set up works? Does it hesistate, poor idle, run too rich or lean, hard to start? I'm kinda just taking a survey at this point to see how other Holley owners have theirs set up, and the different drivablitiy characteristics between them. I've done lots of experimenting on my own but I'm kinda sick of rebuilding mine. Some day I'll make a chart of the different set ups I've tried and post it as a reference guide, which I'm sure will look totally whack, but its a good excuse to go to the dyno for a day!!

I have the hollie 468 package /through racing beat - I have been very happy with
it - I have absolutelly no issues with it - prior to that I had a weber - it was
the biggest piece of **** I ever worked with - these are designed for RACING
Hollie is more "streetable" - as far as jet size you will need to disassemble it
to determine what is in there - when I called racing beat they suggested I do that
to experiment with the jet size - try one up and one down

See that's exactly my point. RB figured out the recipe. I have a few recipe's of my own, I just want to know what makes the RB so trouble free. I've experimented with changing the jets, accel pump, spray nozz, metering plates, diaphram springs, accel cams, I make them work but I feel like I've haven't done any two the same. I guess the proof is in the pudding huh?

You could build 2 the same, put them on 2 different motors in 2 different cities and both run different. A carb needs to be tuned to temperature and altitude and engine condition. I just installed a demon 650 on mine and love the throttle response over my Edelbrock and my Holleys.

my setup is less than desirable currently. When the secondaries come on, it has a pretty bad stumble. Otherwise, it pulls pretty good. I never really did any tuning on the current carb, so I didn't expect wonders from it. The new carb has bigger jets in it, and mechanical secondaries. I'll be tuning it until I get it right.

RB 465 Carb vs. Reg Holley

I took apart an RB to get the following info. The Stock is the reg. Holley carb and is listed first. I had this in a spreadsheet but could not upload a .xls. Where there is no info listed after the description is because I do not have it. YMMV.

BTW, the reason I did this was because I needed a marine holley 450 cfm for a boat. I used the RB 465 info as a guide to setting up my marine holley 450. However I have not run the marine one yet as the boat is not done yet, soon though.

I had an unmolested 465 cfm RB carb in front of me for the data. But since I was going to modify the marine 450 cfm holley I did not have a new non-RB 465 cfm. So if you have a new or unmolested non-RB 465 cfm how about filling in the missing data? Or send the data to me and I will update this. thanks.

FWIW, I have heard (read) that RB may drill openings. I cannot confirm this but I looked very carefully and all the holes seemed to be "factory" casting holes with no "shiny" "just drilled out" look.
