some questions bout 13b TII swap
I did read the FAQ's about the motor swap, but the threads are sorta old and alot of the links are old and dont work anymore.
Anyways I did read that I could mount the motor up to the 12a tranny, and I'm under the impression that the motor will work with the motor mounts that are already there without modification.
Which would be a good way to go about getting a TII motor? (mostly meaning cheapest lol) Get a blown motor and using the block to rebuild it or finding a good running motor? I have yet to find a junkyard in my area that has or even had a rx-7 with the TII motor.
If I get a donor car what kind of stuff will I have to pull out of it to put in mine?
If i left anything out that I would need to know please share, it is still gona be awhile till I am able to even get goin with this. Im just wondering what I am goin to have to look for and what im goin to have to do.
Thanks

You still have to modify the motor mount even if you use the 12A tranny, it would be better if you use a TII tranny since it is stronger.
You will probably need to find a rebuildable core used on the forum or locally, it is difficult to find a used TII in the junkyard.

I have a TII engine in my GSL.
Well... it's a set of TII housings and intake manifold. The internals are from a N/A core engine, as is the flywheel, which allows me to use a N/A transmission. I do not have a turbo.
I wouldn't bother trying to use a N/A trans with turbo torque. If you use the power for more than just occasional roll-on squirts, just to make sure it's there, the trans will die. But if you want to, it can be done with a N/A flywheel from the same year series as the engine. (86-88 or 89-91)
Modifying the mount bracket is trivial and is the same as any other 13B-into-12A-chassis job. You will need to use a '85-earlier front cover, which may preclude the use of the OMP, depending on how you do it, and you need to work out how to do the turbo oil drain.

I concur that a lot of the old threads just don't work anymore. The information is there, but all the links to pictures and such are iffy. I've been acquiring parts for a swap in the future, so I'll be watching this thread.
