Wet/dry vac works pretty good, but you might want to pull everything out and let it dry in the sun once things clear up.

I've done this so you're not alone. I don't know how wet it is, however, I suggest you get the car indoors if possible. Open the doors/hatch and get some fans running on it. The good news is you have a well sealed car if you have humidity/fogging problems with all that moisture - problem is, as long as those well sealed doors are shut, it will have a tough time drying out. I know thats opposite of what you normally hear, ie; poorly sealed cars have humidity problems - but because in your case the dampness is "in" the car, I would venture to say the car is sealed very well leaving the moisture no place to escape. You'll want to do this quick as mildew will set in and then you've got a real problem - you're carpets and seats will stink for months. Also, if you have A/C, run it! Good luck with it

Go to a mall with an underground parkade, crack the windows a bit, and take in a nice long movie. May I recommend Lord Of The Rings?

The Mound was in the Great Houston Flood of Summer 2001. Got up to about the bottom of the seats or so. I was in Thailand at the time, my mom awoke to the flood, punched my stepdad and yelled "Mike's car!"

Frantically they went outside but it wouldn't start. Tried to push it but couldn't cause the water was too deep. With a neighbors help, got it up the driveway to higher ground, my stepdad pulling a calf muscle and later requiring an MRI.

The next day they pulled all the seats, all the carpet and let everything bake in the Houston sun. we lost some of the jute under the carpet, but I've never smelled a thing. While the stepdad was removing a seat, he dropped it on his foot and smashed a toe. My mom took it up the you know what from the dealer when they took it in for an assesment because it wouldn't start. Bad computer (on the floorboard). $1200...yes, we all know I could get one for free or very near it from the rotary community, but I don't think the local Mazda dealer is a card carrying member.

So, pulled calf, smashed toe, $1200 computer, a lot of work, all while I was having the time of my life in Thailand; my mom didn't even e-mail me to tell me about for fear it would ruin my trip, she told me when I got back.

I love my mom.....she knows I love the Mound....it's a beautiful family.

Right on.

Some people store their cars for long periods in a big "zip-lock" thing that covers the whole car, just like a zip-lock baggie, and they put some drying/absorbing stuff in with the car.. so it must be available in bulk quantities from chemical places. What is that stuff?.. calcium something? That stuff might help, if the sun doesn't work.

The company used to have a regular ad in the back of Road & Track.. I don't know if they still do, as I don't subscribe anymore. It was a picture of a heavy-duty vinyl bag with a sports car in it. It looked interesting, but I don't know.. maybe it had probs.

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend that, but the drying/ dessicant stuff seems like a good idea. Still don't know what that stuff is.. calcium something?

I would agree with the wet vac, then get it somewhere inside, and just let it air out. If possible, pull out the seats, and the carpet and padding, and just let them hang over something. But i know that can be a pain.

My dad drove my car, and left my window open in a huge rainstorm. I pulled his 7 (the rust bucket that it is) out, and took out most of my interior. After being wet vaced and let out to dry over night, it was good by morning.

Btw inittab Red Dwarf rocks.
