So it's not FB-related, but y'all have a lot more traffic and I could use a little help.

I've got my RX-2 back from the body shop and have a laundry list of "first steps". Trouble is, I really can't think of where to start. I want to sound-deaden the interior a bit (floor and doors) and put the motor and trans back in, but they might get in the way when it comes to fabbing new brake lines. I've still got everything that came out - just can't think of what to do first. Any ideas? I'm particularly interested in sound deadening ideas, though I might not do it first.

I posted in your other thread. As for deadening the interior, I've used the ice dam underlayment from Home Depot, works well. When I re-installed the carpet in the widebody, I removed all of the stock padding and added foam padding for house carpet. Not the chopped foam stuff, the white vinyl coated foam padding. Great for blocking the heat too.

Yeah, sorry about the double-post, but the Lounge really isn't very helpful when it comes to real questions. I figured that the 1st gen forum was the place to go to find actual gearheads with their hands in their car. I'll check out the Home Depot route, but I didn't know if adhesive backing is common with the home insulation. Definitely worth a look, though.
I posted in the 'Other Rotary' section. The ice dam stuff is a roofing material and has an adhesive backing. The foam I mentioned is for carpet. Once cut to fit, you can use 3M 90 spray adhesive to keep it in place.
Modern cars have the A pillars, and any other hollow areas filled with expanding foam like the stuff in a can for insulating houses.
Also, large areas such as between the body panels (around the wheels wells) are filled with household insulation wrapped in plastic bags.

There is a special foam for the voids. My autobody supplier has it for $15 a can. I don't recommend home use expanding foam, it will hold moisture.
After filling all most all of the voids in a 1st gen, 43 cans of Great Stuff later, I find out I may have caused any rusting potential to accelerate, due to the foam trapping moisture.
