So...MI Stateboy got me
Oh man was i almost screwed, all i can do now is praise my work. heres how it goes
I got off work and was on my way home. I turn down a side road and am going and i see a car comming so i think hmm maybe a cop ill keep it at 55. Im driving at 55(the speedlimit there) and all of the sudden i see lights come on, behind me. Im like crap. I pull over and he walks up and asks for my ID and Insurance and Registration. He then proceeds to ask me if i intend on fixing my exhaust(rb header to presilencer to stock muffler, i dont think its to loud) and also says i need to fix the lights that shine on my liscence plate. All this time im digging through my glove box tryin to find a current proof of insurance. The one i had expired about a month ago and i didnt know it. And i tell him as im still digging and he says thats a really big fine, along with the modified exhaust and no light on the plate itl be quite hefty, all i can think is oh ****. So i turn to him and he looks at my shirt. He then asks if i just got off work and i say yea and he asks what i do at Buccillis(the pizza place i work) and i say i deliver and he says well imma let you off this time, but get this all fixed up, i dont want you to learn the lesson the hard way.
Was it the shirt, or was he just being nice?
Is my exhaust to loud?
Does a -SE even have lights for the liscence plate?
I may never know, but u guys should tell me lol.
No Ticket thou thank god and work.

I once ran a turn light and got pulled over. While pulling out my license, my USF (college) ID slid out with it. Handed it over with registration and insurance card, he went to the car, waited a bit, and came back.
He told me that 3 other cars had followed me through the light, then asked if I went to USF, which was only about 2 miles away. Thinking of the question and how it was worded, I said "Yes." He then told me he was gonna let me go, just watch those lights, etc.
I hadn't gone to USF in about a year, the ID doubles as my ATM card and school ID. But he had asked if I went, and I had.
The one time I got pulled over for speeding was in a damn Mercury Sable wagon. That smooth revving V6 carried me to 60 faster than I realized. Pulled over, and was staring at the light shining from the headlights, wondering if the officer noticed my burnt out headlight also. Appearantly he didn't, thanks to the craptastic design that made the whole front grille light up. A bulb had been installed wrong, melting the hole for the bulb, causing every bulb afterwards to burn out from touching the sides. Yes, I got that speeding ticket though.
In fact, the 2 tickets and 1 time I got off (the turn light) were all on the same road, within about a mile of each other.

Great...that story doesn't make me feel any more comfortable about going with the Racing Beat exhaust setup. Definitely don't want any trouble with Johnny Law!
Michigan cops are ****** enough without giving them more excuses to mess with you.
Oh yeah...and my '84 GS does have license plate lights...guess I'll have to check 'em.

From what i understand, in michigan now for a cop to legally cite you for loud exhaust he has to pull out a decibel meter thing and rate your car at over the limit at driving rpm, he could however get me for modified exhaust, but i just call my presilencer a hi flow cat and its all good

I got pulled over one time by a state cop.
I still to this day don't know is exact reason for pulling me over. His first question was "what kind of exhaust do you have" I said, "pretty much stock." a lie I guess. I have the Mazdatrix race two pipe system...no cats. Reasonable quiet though. He said, "oh yeah those cars have always been kinda loud"?
He wrote a ticket for having window tinting in the side windows. As he was in his car writing it I pulled all of the tinting off the windows so when he got back it was gone. He gave me the ticket anyways and I had to go to the local police station to get it waived.
