How bad is this for my car?

So...my automatic transmission crapped out and lately I've been keeping it in second gear on the drive to work. I try to keep it around 4000 rpm but I'm still worried about damaging something. Is this safe or should I go ahead and rent a car until it can get fixed next week?

it won't damage your car. keep an eye on your coolant temps.

4000rpm is pretty much perfect cruising for a rotary

Hey, where are you in NC. I have a 80 SA that I am parting out. It has agood 5 speed tranny and all the stuff you need to change it over. Would be a hell of alot cheaper to change to stick, than try and fix that crap-o-matic. I am in Statesville. about 30 minuts from Charlotte, Hickory, or Winston.
