Smoking Issues/Rotary Paper Weight

I'm worried I might own a $2000 paper wieght that I just threw a $600 stereo into and only drove it for one day might be doomed. I had no true problems with my car other than slight driveablity issues but nothing truely serious untill yesterday. A co-worker of mine wanted to go for a cruise to listen to my new stereo, plus they love how the 7 handles. So we went for a cruise, right at the parking lot I had trouble getting into reverse, it kept grinding, I put it in, nt really worried becuase my transmission is shotty and grinds when ever I shift into 2nd gear. After a little bit I was having trouble putting it in first gear, no worry- if the tranny goes I'll just buy a ebay T2 tranny. Or so I thought. Drove it home after a 100mph drive, and thought everything was fine. Came back for work, and I couldn't get it into gear at all. I checked my hydraulic clutch fluid, and it was pretty much non-exsistant, so I wasen't concerned. Filled it with some dot 3, and still no gears. I tryed one more time, and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor, no resistance or anything. So I'm assuming my clutch is gone, shame, cuase I just got my stereo 2 days ago. I tryed to start it when I got home, and I checked my compression first, first rotor had 3 even beats, and the rear I couldn't tell if it was o.k. or not, at first it sounded like I was not getting compression on one of the seals, but I listened to it again, and it sounded even. It was no harder to turn at the alt. than normal, the car was flooded aswell so I flood cleared it. When I went to start it with the plugs back in it smoked like crazy, normally it smokes for a few seconds at start up, espessually when its flooded, but when I revved my engine up it poored smoke all over the drive way. Smoke is either blue or black, I'm posistive its not anti-freeze, and I'm kinda worried my beautiful GSL-SE is toast. Is then anything you guys would recommend me to check before I say **** it, and throw in a 13B turbo II which I wasen't planning on doing till next spring.

Yeah, you could use the search function to look up the clutch bleeding procedure. That'll get you going again.

I've been driving it for a bit, now I've gotten most of the regular stuff done, its been seafoamed, new plugs, filters all over, oil, diff. fluid, I haven't been negliecting my car, I'm enjoying learning about rotary's, but I'm concerned about the smoke, its never done that to me before, and it only sat a night.

It'll need a rebuild but not right this minute. You have several months or even possibly years before something catastophic happens. Of course it is better to rebuild before an apex seal breaks. For now it sounds like the oil seals are a little tired. Nothing to worry about for now. Keep driving it and start saving up for a rebuild. You'll be glad you did.

Search for: Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer....

And make sure your oil is at the proper level, not overfilled.

Smell the smoke; is it fuel or is it oil?

And, I'll second the vote for clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Your clutch is probably fine...
