Hey ive got an 84 gsl with an engine from an automatic, if you didnt already know they didnt rev above 5000rpm. Every time i start it, it spews white smoke while it warms up. I am still burning the carbon out of the engine, so i was just wondering if theres anything else i should check

PS i am running a straight pipe with no rats nest or air pump if that helps

thanks

man u mean the automatic only lets u go to 5k? Get some sea foam and run your gas tank down to about 1/4th and pour some in and clean out that carbon!

1. Even an automatic should let you rev to infinity. So if you can't rev over 5k I'm thinking you have issues.

2. White smoke usually means a coolant leak.

When mine was an auto, flooring it, MAX rpm it would reach before the gears shifted was 5500. Normal driving, it shifted around 3000. It was shitty.

Is that with it in drive? Can't you shift it manually and get the rpms up there?

Yeah, thats in drive.

You could get the rpms up in gears 1 and 2,

either way- death to automatics
