nah it cranks up and starts all easily just no power slow revs feels like super bogging shaking a lot when in grear at some points the power comes back for a slipt few seconds then goes back to no power any other opinions could it be the rats nest ?? Seems like a big leak by the carb where the rats next in there seems to be a lot of air pushing out

dude, look around and see if any hose got disconnected? are you sure you are not feeling the "air" from the cooling fan? if the exhaust overheat light came on, i'd check the cat, maybe it clasped all of a sudden...

ya, rip off all the emissions equipment (unless you're in a CARB STATE) and see if it helps any. besides that, i'd rebuild the carb and see how you're running (i'm drunk and depressed right now)

Try changing your air filter or making sure nothing is clogging airflow into the carb...your engine could be starving for air which would lead to an over-rich running condition and the exceptional exhaust temperature (and a sucking noise near the rats nest). It could also be that a catalytic converter has come apart leaving the exhaust partially blocked. Sometimes large pieces of the honeycomb can bounce around and occasionally block the exit of the converter...hit a bump and they might dislodge momentarily. This is a more likely explanation of the sporadic nature of your problem....other than the engine is fried.

Verify that you still have spark on your leading ignition before you do anything further...

do you actually hear the air flowing?..what about the hose that leads to the check valve at the steel line..(for the cat) is that there or broke?..if you hear air around the front passenger >>air pump..at the back.>>cat and steel line ..couple ideas .

Yup I took one more look at it earlier and I think its the cat I was under and I was revving the motor and seems that all the vibration and noise is someing from the first cat well looks like I'm just going to put a whole new exhaust system haha well hoping that my diagnosis is correct I checked out all your other ideas but it seems to be the cat

did you get both cats? or is your vehicle not equipped... mine was like that when i got it, both cats were solid carbon. but with open header... cant be that.

inspect the ignition timing, Carb. secondaries (its vac.ack)
furthermore, if the exaust overheat sensor is faulty, it may tell the computer to back off on something, or foul something up horribly. just disconnect the sensor and have a spin.. also, is your exaust glowing? if so, then its overheated, and your car needs more attention in that area (glowing cats are cool... sorta)

I know that you said you are sure that you have spark on the leading ignition, but until you actually see it with your own eyes I'm going to stick with my original diagnosis.
