Smoke and fire everywhere Oh the humanity!
Okay, perhaps that's melodramatic.
No smoke, no fire, but I lost an apex seal on my lead rotor. My daily driver isn't at present
Oh well, at least I have an excuse to street port it and clean up the engine bay/polish some parts.
It's always been a bummer to hear about this whenever someone else posted - now I'll be able to feel it on a personal level. Don't cry for me, Argentina - the truth is I'm glad I get to clean things up
I'll keep everyone appraised of the situation and let everyone know how things go. Oh yeah - this doesn't impact the shirts at all. I'll let you know when they're in!

Well, I had to hop in the Jeep to head to the store this evening - I'm already going through withdrawls...
Not even 12 hours without her and it's already taking its toll. Oh well, tomorrow before work I'll move her into the carport and start the dismantling. Anyone have any suggestions on the best soaking method for an alternator?

if its just grease, use "Grease Lightening"
Its real cheap, and i used some of my brothers today, just a few sprays, and it took almost all the grease off the spots i sprayed, now if i had another go around with it, it would be spot less, without scrubbing on it, just spray, let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse, and repeat if neccesary!!! DAMN GOOD STUFF!!!!
And those withdraws will suck!
If your gonna go really detailed with painting and everything, mark EVERRYTHING when taking it off/ apart. And stick small stuff in marked zip lock baggies
dont be lazy like i was, now i have a bunch of stuff thats unreconizable from when i swapped motors in my cars...

When I first got her 10 years ago, I may have broken some of the rules which I now hold dear...
Do not rev over 3000 rpm before car is properly warmed up.
Change oil religiously every 2500 miles
Now, the overheating rule, I'm pretty sure I followed but 10 years has a way of making fuzzy the details.
Again it's sad and I miss my baby, but I'm really starting to look forward to the streetporting and the next 300,000 miles She had maybe 82K miles when I got her from family friends that had the money to pamper her with weekly waxing, and I presume the standard maintenance.
All I know is that when I decide to do the TII swap in the future, someone will be assured to be able to buy my soon-to-be properly rebuilt and RB template streetported engine that will be well loved from mile 1

Well, I've pulled the alternator, fan, carb, and half of the a/c compressor (I left work about 90 minutes ago). I'll finish the compressor, remove the intake manifold, then pull the exhaust and free the engine from the tranny.
It's all downhill from there
