Slotted hex nuts

What is the thread size for the slotted hex nuts for the steering assembly? I'm pretty sure the large nuts are either M12-1.25 or M12-1.5 but I don't know about the small nut on the idler arm. My steering assembly parts are still in excellent shape, but the nuts are all damaged or missing so I'm replacing them all. Thanks for any help.

I wish I knew the sizes. Then I could tell yah! But search for castleated or how ever it's spelled. You should get more results.

I've got my old one boxed in the garage; I'll check and report back shortly.

The castle nut on the small (ball) end that goes to the linkage looks to be M10-1.0.

The one up top that compresses the bushings is M12, but there's not enough of it exposed for me to guage the pitch.

Thanks DD. If I hadn't lost my thread gauge this would have been sooooo much easier. Lol. Time to buy a new one I guess.

I just use a MM scale & magnifying glass.
1.0 threads have 1 thread per millimeter.
1.25 has 4 threads in 5mm.
1.5 has 4 threads in 6mm.

Another way to tell is to compare with other studs and bolts you may have kicking around. The bellhousing to rear plate bolts are 10mm x 1.25. This is kind of a medium thread pitch for this diameter. A fine pitch is 10mm x 1.00 like tension bolts. The starter uses two 10mm x 1.5mm coarse thread because they're both going into soft metal; the starter flange is aluminum or pot metal, the bellhousing is obviously aluminum.
