Has anybody ever shortened their leading ignition coil wires for their fc leading ignition coil?

i heard that the shorter the distance between the coil to the plugs the better.

It really wont make any difference performance wise. There's not enough resistance in a couple inches of spark plug wire to affect anything

I have used MSD or Magnacore 10mm wires on all mine, and bought each as a "universal" kit, then measured and cut mu own lengths. You can do the same to shorten any set if you buy the extrs boots and clips. You'll need a special crimping tool to do it right though. It's easy to do.

I can ditto that! I'm running the Mallory ignition boxes and boy what a huge improvement! Smoother idle, more power, and easier revs! I also upgraded the coils.

once the resistance goes over the 16ohms/foot that the FSM says, you're loosing power.

I picked up a "build your own" kit from Autozone. Cut to the length I wanted, installed the ends, and I was up and running. No sweat.

I have a set of electrical connection pliers that came with that crimping notch. I probably bought that at Autozone too, knowing me.

They sell the crimpers at most auto parts stores. As for the wires, any that are "universal" are cut to fit, you just have to be sure they have the HEI and non HEI style connectors, otherwise you have to buy the connectors seperately. If you don't want to spend the $$ for Magnacore or MSD, Megafire 8.5mm wires are a good alternative and are universal and come in red/black/blue. I bought the V-8 set for my red project and had enough to do 2 cars. part # 16403 made by engine works. Worked great with the DLIDFIS setup I installed on that car.
