Shift lever and such?
Replacing tranny in one of my race cars. One that was in it apparently was from a newer car. Meaning shift lever and such won't work with the new tranny that I have to put in it.
Anyone have an idea where to get the lever and everything so I can actually shift gears once it's in? I'm at a bit of a loss ...
Thanks
Bryan

Car is a '79. Replacement transmission is also from a '79. I'm not sure what the one in it is. From pictures appears to be 82-84 perhaps?
I need the shift lever, boot, bushings, etc. Pictures are attached.

^What he said, just take the tailshaft housing along with shifter tower/rod etc andjust put it on the new transmission you bought.
Either that or just find someone willing to sell you the shifter for that 79/80 transmission you bought since it is actually the correct setup for your car...

Anyone know anyone that has shifter and such to sell? I'll look at the tailpiece and see how difficult that is to change out.
Thanks for the suggestions!

It's not difficult at all really, just a handful of bolts, you don't even need to remove any of the shifter assembly, it all just comes off with the tail shaft housing. Once the bolts are removed pull up (assuming you have the trans sitting on the bellhousing) a little bit, then rotate clockwise to get the shift rod out of the shift forks (whatever they are technically called)

Talked with dad. He pulled housing off back of each and said while it physically fits on the case - the shift mechanism does not work.
Any idea where to get the actual shifter and such? Anyone here have a spare for sale?
Thanks
