Shift Buzzer!!!!

I got carbon seals and a autometer tach and have no use for that damn horn buzzer. How do I disconnect it. I want it removed asap. It gives me a head ache!

At what RPM do you shift that the buzzer gets annoying? Carbon apex seals or no, anything above 8k and you're asking for trouble, IMHO. Carbon seals don't chatter like the steel ones, but the e-shaft flex is what really kills you.

All that aside, if you want to disable the buzzer, you have to pull the instrument cluster and unplug it from the back. Check this link for a crude but fairly useful diagram http://www.jimrothe.com/mazda/overrev.html

You may be able to use this to your advantage and have a shift light AND a shift buzzer rather than just one of the two. Mabey you could program it. Just some food for thought.

I kinda like that annoying redline buzzer. Without it, I KNOW I would be revving to like 10k.......just because I dont have a rev limiter like I do in my 00 Accord. Its the only thing that saves me the headache of a destroyed motor.

I can remember the first time the shift buzzer went off while I was driving. Scared the crap outta me - I thought I ran over a duck.

My '82 didn't have the buzzer, so when I bought my '79, I wasn't expecting it. If I hadn't had my seatbelt on, I probably would have jumped out of my seat.

I still laugh everytime I hear it. I'll be acting like an idiot, and revving up for a little stoplight race with some other sports car next to me.......and then we take off.....a split second later, that buzzer sounds, reminding me that I have 101hp. As if to say "What the hell do you think you're doing racing that Corvette?!!""

It reminds me of that "bling bling" you hear in Initial D when the AE86 goes over 100mph. It's reminding you "You arent supposed to be doing this, you arent supposed to be doing this"

audo rev limitor :)

The best part about that buzzer for me was when I went to buy my old 82 from a Lady in St. Paul MN I asked her if she minded if I reved the motor a little she said no problem. at that point I was mostly sure I was going to buy the car so I took it all the way to the red line. I turned to look at her just as the buzzer sounded, She damn near went through the sun roof. I smiled and said sold! she was the original owner and she had never over reved it. ( I know I know she may have built up a ton of carbon but she never cooked it either.
