sensor in ehaust

hey i want to put a new ehaust on my car im getting the header and i have the muffler already but i am going to have the center pipe made to go in between the muf and the header what im getting at is will it be ok if u cut the wire and not connect it back or do i need that?

thanks!! its a 85 gsl 5spd

no its not i was tole i dont have one because when i hooked up my a/f gauge there was not 02 sensor!!!

and should i go with a Presilencer with my haeder or dose i matter?

Its not an O2 sensor, that would be the exhaust heat sensor, it trips the 'Exhaust Overheat' light on the dash. You dont really need it.

sooo should i cut it? or would it turn the light on in the dash? how should i go about removing it?

I would image just cutting the wire would do ... i'm getting my exhaust done on monday and i think that i'll try to put it at first ... does anyone know at what temperature does the sensor trigger the light at?

On the 84/85 12A cars, there are two exhaust temp sensors. There is one in the floor board like the other 1st gens for the exhaust overheat light. The one he is talking about is a thermoswitch in the exhaust itself. This is only on the 84/85 12A cars. It is used for the emissions system. I believe it is used to control the ACV. You should be able to just unplug it without any issues.

Yeah, as long as it is a one-wire senor, which I believe it should be.
