Semi-synthetic oil?
I know there has been a debate going on for a while about which kind of oil to use, but no one really has talked about semi-synthetic oil. My dad says that it helps his car start significantly easier in the winter with semi-synthetic. Now, his is a 2000 Saturn, so it does have a piston engine, but he think I should run semi-synthetic in my car too. What do you guys think?

P.S. I live in MN, so it does get pretty cold.

With semi-synthetic you get the worst of both worlds. Oil thinning faster and diluted additives than if you ran full synthetic.
I've used synthetics in rebuilt rotaries and none of them had a dowel o ring leak. They all coughed an apex seal or coolant seal.
Synthetic burns better and cleaner than non. Try it.
