self tuning?
Hey
Tomorrow I am picking up my first car.
Obviously an RX-7,
1983 RX-7 with a 12A rebuild and new clutch(15,000miles)
Thats pretty much everything thats been replaced on this 20 year old car so I was doing some thinking.
WITHOUT buying anything new(replacing anything Major) what are some good things to do to get this car running nicely.
As of now there are no problems...
But what are some procedures I could do to prevent problems and what are some easy things I could do to improve the life of the car.
ANY and ALL suggestions would be appreciated.

So far this is pretty much all i can think of
...
Change the oil
Change the oil filter
Clean the air filter
change transmission fluid
flush the radiator
new radiator fluid
clean sparks
clean battery terminals
thats about all of the cheap and inexpensive things i could think of
now its your turn to help me out.

OMP stands for Oil Metering Pump. Rotary engines HAVE to have a small amount of oil injected into them to lube the apex seals, thus, burning a small amount of oil is critical and normal for these cars. Some folks feel that pre-mixing (adding 16oz of 2 cycle oil with a fillup of gas in gas tank) is better overall than burning regular oil through the OMP. These engines easily go 200K plus with the stock OMP setup, however. I personally leave the OMP in place, and add MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) in the tank with every fillup for extra insurance.

What you could do also is empty out your dif. oil ! ... It's very often forgotten ... Another thing: don't just clean, change your spark plugs, and get a new cap and rotor. + , u could also get a gas filter too.
Don't run premix just yet ... Get to know your engine alot first, go arround the forum, ask questions, then MAYBE think of switching hehehe :P it's a process lol ...
Try re-tuning the carb to get it iddling either at 750-850 RPM ... they run smooth at that :P I'll think of more stuff
