Searched, 2nd Gen RB header on GSLSE

Im looking into buying a 2nd gen RB header and wondering if it will fit on my SE.
And iv heard RB headers will need a custom exhaust cuz they dont fit a stock set up.
Has anyone done this before? iv heard they fit my 13b housing but wondering if theres problems id run into.

If it is JUST the header, then it will NOT bolt up to the factory connecting pipe (the one just aft of the catpipe) The engine is essentially the same, so I believe it will bolt to the block just fine, but I would wait for others to confirm. Also, is it a street or road race header?

I had both and compared them side by side. The only differences I could tell was the inside diameter of the piping was bigger for the 2nd gen header so I went with that. This is in my 85 GS w/a 13B, which is basicly the same as a GSL-SE. The length overall was longer and it hung lower but nothing hit or rubbed the underneath of the car. I always scrape pulling out of a steep driveway or going over a speedbump but that presilencer is made heavy duty for sure so it takes the hits pretty well so far and it's been about 3years of daily driving.

After the header I used the matching 2nd gen RB presilencer (for the same inside diameter) and had a local muffler shop mate a pipe from the back of the presilencer to a RB road race muffler at the point where both pipes joined into a single pipe. It cost a little bit more for the road race muffler even though I didn't use the dual pipe set-up but the inside diameter of the single piping portion of the road race muffler was larger matching the header and presilencer up front. It's kinda borderline of being a little bit loud for a daily driver tooo.

i have heard that SE headers from RB have a different flange which wont fit with S5 intake manifolds but that S5 header flanges will fit SE, so....idk, im just gonna go ahead and get it.

and i have no clue if it is road race or street, just says 2nd Gen Racing Beat header

If it doesnt fit that il just weld something up that does, would it make any difference if its street or road race or is it just for emissions? cuz here in Salem OR we dont have emissions so as long as it doesnt smoke too bad or is too loud its fine.

Welcome to the club! Actually I'm just straight open header right now, so mine is probably louder still.

Well, what do you expect, you removed the four main mufflers in the exhaust system.

- Manifold
-Converter
-Converter
-BIG converter

The thing on the back is mainly there for looks, although it does do some muffling on its own.

Most aftermarket exhaust systems that flow well end up being a chain of mufflers with a little pipe here and there.

Well i ended up buying another stock muffler since i tossed my old one which was shot, and its sounds alot better now, a little risey but i can live with it still gotta mess with it cuz it got welded on crooked. but with no cats that **** is toxic, burns your eyes if you're anywhere near the back pipe
wow i still got alot of work ahead of me, 2genlfis, and an s4 intake
