AC is not model specific. There was a factory installed system and a dealer installed system. In my experience 84-85 were mostly dealer installed type.

^^ very true. there were two different a/c setups used. nippon denso was one and the other was wynn's.

This same practice carried over to the 2nd gens also as there are 2 different compressors and line sets, which are not interchangeable.

My understanding is that all the GSL-SEs used the nippon denso system (factory installed). Other models where more likely to be port/dealer installed AC. So, you are probably looking at 2 different systems between the GSL-SE and the GSL. Check the compressor on both and see if they are both nippon denso or not..then you'll know for sure.

There are also some small differences on the electrical side of things between the 12A models and the 13B. These include a diode that is specific to the 13B setup and a difference on the air conditioning relay(s). Should not be a problem if swapping one system in one car model to the other. Just somerthing to keep in mind if you were having to swap the wiring harness and such for some reason.

easy identification on the nippon denso systems. look at the compressor. if it has the two lines that thread into the compressor then its the nippon denso setup. if it has a bolt that runs through the center line block that holds both lines to the compressor then its more than likely the wynns setup.
