Sealant for WhaTT????

heyy guyss just a quick question... my parts rx7 hasa decent motor that im thinkin about swapin in my sweet rx7 but its has this orange sealant on the one side of the engine...i have no clue wat its for....
anY idEAASS....

that is permatex the high temp like 700 degree F one that is used instead of a gasket i used it on my water pump someone was clearly a lil over zealous not sure if it is bad for use inbetween housings tho but works great on my water pump

Maybe they were trying to fix a coolant leak. I would be a leery of a motor that looks that nasty.

Looks like someone was trying to fix a dowel pin leak. If it holds, you're good, if not, the engine needs opened up and the o-ring replaced.
