SE spindle question...

I have been searching for a driver's front GSLSE Spindle for awhile now to no avail. Big suprise that it is the first thing that gets claimed off of the cars when they are parted out.

Anywho, how different are the other 84-85 spindles. Would I be able to mount my SE hardware to the GSL spindle with good results. I can find them every day of the week, and if the rotor/hub would bolt on and the caliper would be spaced correctly, then I would be back in business.

Anyone know?

A 84-85 Rx-7 spindles are the same, use the same inter and outer bearing.

Only thing is different in caliper mounting bracket, backing plate and rotor.

I image it would work. There's been talk before of the SE spindles being marginally shorter but I've never noticed. If nothing else, you could always shim the SE spindle at the strut mount, but it should be fine.

Left and right spindle assemblies are the same, the brackets for the brakes and lower ball joints are different.

Is it possible to change the brackets (backing plates?) from one assembly to another. I just wanna get my baby back on the road. I am currently at two out of three driveable RX-7's, and the only one I really love is the one that is down...

The .pdf shows the damper tube to be a different part number.

Hmmm.

So if I just grab the spindle with the strut attached plus disc and caliper assembly with the sheild in place I just can't bolt it back in place on my '83 because where it unbolts from the lower ball joint, that piece is different? (four strut bolts (top), two bolts at bottom of assembly (17mm?) and the brake line need to be undone to pull that part out and put it back in right?) So do I need to pull the lower suspension arm with the ball joint in it also?

only differance is the se is just a little shorter (very little shorter) you should be able to swap brackets no problem. the one I did swaped no problem. ball joint bracket fit fine.

part numbers may be different because it probably includes the mounting plate to mount the caliper and shield.

When I sand blasted mine they both had the same markings. They were indentical.
